This year Discourse heads to Seville!
Looking forward to this years’ Meetup. And like always I’m putting together my list of things to do, see and eat while in Spain. This list will grow as I do more research, but if you have suggestions, please let me know.
Foods to try
- Jamôn Ibérico - cured pork leg…I’ve had it…but i gotta get it in Spain!
- Solomillo al Whisky - pork in whisky and garlic sauce (Los Coloniales)
- Mermelada - orange marmalade made from the bitter oranges
- Orange wine
- Sweet olive oil tortas - Inés Rosales brand is most famous
- Mantecados - traditional shortbread cookies (Mantecados la Colchona)
- Turrón - almond and honey confection
- Pan de Tomate - crusty bread w/tomatoes, garlic and olive oil

- Tortilla de patatas (aka tortilla Española) - thick omelette w/potatoes and possibly onions

- Metropol Parasol (Las Setas) - aka Las Setas (‘the mushrooms’), this is the world’s largest wooden structure.
- Museo de Bellas Artes - housed in the 16th c Convento de la Merced, and its high-ceilinged galleries are arranged around elegant courtyards
- Barrio de la Cruz - Jewish Quarter
- Parque María Luisa - Andalusian park was created as the focal point for the 1929 Exposición Iberoamericana
- La Feria food market
- Alameda de Hercules
- Triana
- Casa de Pilatos - 15th c Andalusian palace
- Real Alcatraz - Moorish-style palace with maze-like botanical gardens
- Flamenco
Possible day trips
- Madrid - 2:30 train ride
- We may spend a few days here either before or after the Meetup. We haven’t decided yet. Let me know what you think.
